BAKERSFIELD, CA — On Sunday, April 7th, Grimmway Farms President and CEO, Jeff Huckaby, announced the recipients of the 2024 Grimmway Farms Scholarship Program. This annual program acknowledges the outstanding academic achievements of students whose parents or guardians are employed by Grimmway. Students were honored during a ceremony at our annual company picnic.
The Grimmway Farms Scholarship Program is awarded to the children of Grimmway employees who are high school seniors planning to pursue higher education by either attending a two or four- year college or university. The scholarships are granted based on academic achievement and are renewable for four years. Applicants of the program who have a grade point average of 4.0 or greater also received a laptop computer in addition to their monetary scholarship.
“At Grimmway Farms, we are proud to give back to our community and invest in our family of employees. The Scholarship Program is just one of the ways we support our employees while also empowering the next generation of future leaders. I am excited for the opportunities these students will have and am grateful that we get to support them along their journeys. I wish them much success!” said Jeff Huckaby, President and CEO.
“These students have worked so hard throughout their high school careers, and we are honored to play a part in helping them further their education,” said Dana Brennan, Vice President of External Affairs and Corporate Responsibility. “We are especially proud that many of our recipients are first- generation college students, breaking new ground and setting a precedent for their families. We look forward to witnessing their ongoing development and have no doubt that they will have a prosperous future ahead.”
Recipients will attend institutions such as California State University Fresno, California State University Bakersfield, University of California San Diego and more. They have plans to study a range of subjects including nursing, speech pathology, social work, engineering, and teaching.
Eric Proffitt, Executive Vice President, remarked on the importance of the Grimmway Farms Scholarship Program stating, “It’s all about investing in people and our family of employees. We are committed to providing opportunities for individuals to develop their skills and knowledge, ensuring a brighter future for the industry and our community.”
